A stroller deep clean with Upward costs S$85, and we plan 35 minutes of cleaning for it, in your own home. A stroller is not one material, though. The seat is padded fabric, the harness is woven webbing, and the wheels have rolled through every void deck and wet market you have. Each part is cleaned differently. Car seats and cots are covered in our baby gear cleaning guide.
How much does it cost, and how long does it take?
35 minutes of cleaning
45 minutes of cleaning
80 minutes of cleaning
Both prices are fixed and clear our S$50 minimum job fee. The minutes are cleaning time. Our booking page adds 15 minutes to set up and 15 to pack up, so a stroller alone is booked as about 1 hr 5 min in your home. A car seat must come out of the car first, because we do not clean car interiors. A car grooming shop does that. Other items are on the full price list.
Is S$85 the cheapest way? No. Pram Wash's listings on UPlay show a deep clean at S$71 for guests (S$61–S$66 for UPlay Premium and NTUC members) and an intensive wash at S$101 (S$91–S$96 for members) at the time of writing, redeemed by walking in to its outlets at VivoCity, United Square or Tradehub 21. Our price covers the machine coming to your door, which counts for a lot when you have no car and a baby who naps at two.
What gets extracted, and what is cleaned by hand?
Extracted: seat fabric and liner
Room-temperature water extraction lifts milk and sweat out of the padding. A clear-water rinse then takes the cleaning solution out too, so no residue stays where your child sits.
By hand: harness, buckle, frame, wheels
Straps are wiped with a damp cloth, never soaked. The frame is wiped down and the wheels are cleared of grit.
A hospital-grade sanitising pass closes the visit and is included in the price. The visit runs the same way as any other job, which we describe in what to expect at a cleaning visit. Why the rinse matters is in our zero-residue guide for babies and pets. Canopies and baskets differ by model, so send a photo on WhatsApp before you book.
Why are the harness straps only wiped?
Britax, a car seat maker, does not want harness webbing soaked. Its car seat cleaning page puts it flatly: "Do not machine wash, iron or bleach the harness webbing." It also warns that submerging the straps or using harsh soap may weaken the fibres.
That advice is written for car seats, where strap strength matters in a crash. We apply it to stroller harnesses too. The straps and buckle are what stop a toddler from sliding or climbing out, and a damp cloth with mild soap gets them clean anyway. If you clean them yourself, your stroller's manual has the final say.
Does yours need a deep clean, or just a wipe-down?
Not every dirty stroller needs us. Tap what you can see or smell.
Mould spots are a different matter. We do not treat mould, so a stroller with mould on the seat is not a cleaning job for us. The US EPA notes that absorbent materials may have to be thrown away once mouldy, so ask the brand's service centre about a replacement seat fabric.
How long does it take to dry?
The seat is damp when we leave, not dripping. Plan for 5–7 hours with the stroller opened up under a fan or aircon.
Do not fold it away early. UPPAbaby's care instructions say not to fold or store a stroller that is damp or wet, and Bugaboo says to let parts air dry completely to stop mould forming. Singapore's mean relative humidity is around 82%, so a damp stroller folded into the bomb shelter is slow to dry.
What should you do between deep cleans?
Bugaboo suggests a quick clean each time the stroller has been out. In a Singapore week:
- After every outing. Shake out crumbs and wipe the bumper bar with a damp cloth.
- After rain. Open it fully under a fan the same day. The EPA says to dry wet items within 24–48 hours to prevent mould growth.
- After East Coast Park. Brush the sand off dry. UPPAbaby recommends rinsing the frame with tap water soon after salt water, to avoid corrosion.
- After a spill. Blot, then wipe with mild soap and water. Chicco warns against oversaturating the fabric and against bleach.
If a cot mattress is due too, mattress cleaning can go on the same visit.
Bought a second-hand stroller? Clean it before the first ride
If yours came from Carousell or a condo chat group, you do not know what was spilt in it or how it was stored, so deep clean it before first use.
Check the hardware first, because cleaning does not fix a faulty stroller. In 2019, Enterprise Singapore flagged strollers whose restraints could not secure a child and others that tipped over or collapsed in tests. Try the brakes and the fold lock, and click the buckle a few times, before you pay. We do not repair frames or replace parts. The brand's service centre does.
A second-hand car seat is a bigger decision. RoSPA, the UK's Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, advises against buying one because you cannot be certain of its crash history.
